Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is PTF?
PTF stands for Parent Teacher Fellowship (The PTF is a Christian concept. It embraces the school as a family unit, serving together in commitment, love and obedience to Christ, where fellowship and good works are a glorification to God.)
2. Who are members of the PTF?
Members are the parents/guardians of children attending Calvary Christian Academy, as well as its teachers and staff.
3. What does the PTF do?
· The PTF provides encouragement and support for the teachers, parents and staff.
· They promote cooperation between the parents and teachers.
· They plan activities (i.e., fundraisers, events, special activities and items for teachers & students)
4. How does the PTF plan these activities?
The activities are planned through PARENT VOLUNTEERS – YOU!!!
5. What do the parent volunteers do?
Parent volunteers are the core of the PTF. Parent volunteers chair committees to run events, sign up to be on an event committee, donate food or drinks for an activity, make copies, etc. The list is only limited by our imagination.
6. What else does the PTF do?
The PTF also provides funding to teachers for items and/or activities that the classes might not have without our support.
7. Where does the money come from for these “items and/or activities”?
FUNDRAISING!! We raise money through fundraisers throughout the year.
8. How many fundraisers are planned for the school year?
Tentatively, we have two major fundraisers planned for each year along with a few minor ones. We are always looking for new ways to raise funds that are low cost.
9. Do I have to participate in fundraising?
We encourage everyone to participate in some manner, however, no one has to buy anything they do not want to. Keeping in mind the original purpose for the fundraising, some families make a monetary donation at the beginning of the year and do not feel the need to buy items from our fundraisers. Do not forget that DONATING YOUR TIME is just as important as a monetary donation. Each family needs to do what is best for them.
10. How do I get involved?
· Join us at the PTF meetings
· Participate in the many Parent Service Hours Opportunities
· Become a Room Rep Coordinator
11. What is a “Room Rep Coordinator”?
Parent volunteer (from each homeroom)
12. What does the “Room Rep Coordinator” do?
They serve as a point of contact between the PTF, the teachers and the parents of a particular classroom. They attend PTF meetings to stay informed, they assist the teacher and/or PTF by contacting parents with information, as well as passing on to the PTF any teacher requests.
